Technology is great when it works! Last Sunday (15 March) we had a rather annoying – to say the least – problem on Film4. During one of the final scenes of Sliding Doors, a technical error caused the film to be interrupted by a voiceover, right at the wrong moment, telling viewers what was coming up next on the channel… Oops!

Of course, we had fully intended for the voiceover to play out after the movie had finished, but those gremlins in the system had other ideas and instead of letting the credits roll, our voiceover got in the way of Helen (Gwyneth Paltrow) heading for the lift and meeting James (John Hannah) for the first time. Very frustrating for anyone who had waited 97 mins for that crucial moment.

Thanks to all of you who contacted Viewer Enquiries about the problem – after receiving your calls and emails we got in touch with the Film4 team and soon managed to get to the bottom of what happened. We of course apologise for any inconvenience caused and, in an effort to compensate those frustrated viewers, have arranged for the film to be aired again tonight, March 20 – in its absolute entirety – at 9pm on Film4.

Enjoy!
