I’ve been really enjoying Veronica Mars. Is Channel 4 planning to show Rob Thomas’s new series “Party Down” at any point?
Who decided to put “Last Voices of WW1″ on in the afternoon and then also decide not to put it on 4OD. I forgot it was on and missed the first one.
Last nights “Is it better to be mixed race” was so biased and one sided as to be absolutely meaningless. Questions for the other side of the debate raised by the program itself were never addressed leaving it to be 60mins of utter nonsense.
Completely agreed… It’s exactly this type of program that makes me really angry and tell myself I’m going to screen what documentaries I’m actually going to watch… It was absolute rubbish and filled with mentally unbalanced people. Hated it with a passion.
Yeah that mixed race investigation was a complete waste of time. I’d imagine that someone with a PhD (the author) would know better how to structure and substantiate a report. It seemed to me that the whole tv-show was just “air” and the crucial point was to let us know that there is such a thing called a ratio of homozygote and heterozygote, and having more of the latter is better. Duuude!! This can be wrapped up in 5min, not 60!
Agree. It was just another poorly done pseudo-scientific ‘documentary’ by the leftist CH4. All Guardian-esque propaganda and little substance.
Ask me this, when we all become mixed race, what will have to diversity then, eh?
I agree with Bill about the “Is it better to be mixed race” programme. The programme showed that mixed race people have a more diverse gene pool which we already knew but then it did not tell us how she felt mixed race was better. The experiment in Brazil could be down to adapting to the society in which one lives. I am sure the result would have been the same if the experiment was carried out in India or Nigeria, people in the lower strata would be better able to cope with depression and anxiety. Besides, the programme had already stated that the Brazilian population in general, wealthy or poor was mixed race… I really was looking for something more concrete on her hypothesis.
When is Brothers & Sisters Season 4 coming on UK TV? It started in the US in September and I’m watching it online but my mum refuses to watch TV on her laptop and wants to wait til it’s on E4. I’m going to explode if I don’t discuss it with her soon! January? February? please advise.
Season 4 will be on More 4 towards the end of January 2010
who was the narrater of the programme the Body series 1 episde 1?
You Trying to spread something that is untrue saying that many people think the white body is the perfect body.
first you told as we are less intelligent and that you are a superior race.
And naw you telling me the beautiful black body that i and everyone can see,
is not what we see, and that we shoul think and see what you want us to see.
I am also dissapointed that channel 4 aloud the narrator to speak for billions of people and trying to poison our childrens minds. This is my massage to you, we are not blind.
The Family debuted tonight and I think it is great. Different from the last series with interviews, and filming taking place in other locations. I love the new family and have both laughed out loud and cried watching tonights episode. Am addicted already. Love this show!
I have just watched The Family, Wednesday 4th November and wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. The Gurewal family are so warm, funny and loving. Sarbjit and her husband are watchable. It gave a real insight into one British Asian family, their philosophy of life and relationships. A brilliant idea and I definitely will be watching the whole series. Well done.
I think tonights programme about ‘The Family’ was brilliant. They are a kind, caring, loving family with a great sense of humour too – wow!. Can’t wait for the next episode.
I just want to say how shameful it is for 4oD to produce such poor (not to say cr*ppy) quality video catch-ups. I mean, just check this latest pixelated hell:
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/how-to-look-good-naked/4od#3007559
Am sure Gok would agree with me!
Hi Natasha,
Thanks for flagging this – we passed on your concerns to our 4oD team who have identified a technical issue with that particular episode of How to Look Good Naked – the video is now in the process of being fixed.
I was deeply affected by the programs on racism. Thank you, they were excellent. I want to explore this further. I teach English to foreigners and find some of my students very, very racist – no attempts at political correctness – especially the Chinese and Eastern Europeans. Can you suggest classroom activities or techniques to deal with this sensitively? Ragah Omar,s program and Jane Elliot’s especially affected me very deeply. Made me think and want to work against racism even more than before.
Hey, I’ve seen ads for the upcoming week of 3D on Channel 4, but I come to the website and I cant find anything out about it. How about a page telling us when the 3D programmes are on ?
I have the glasses from Sainsburys and everything !
Hi Ian,
You can find details of all the programmes due to be shown in 3D Week on the offiical website here – http://www.channel4.com/programmes/themes/3d-week
Thanks
Nearest Sainsbury’s 11.4 miles away – no direct public transport. Commercial partnerships fine, but not if it means we can’t join in the fun! Alternative supply points please – I’d rather have had to pay a small sum for the glasses.
Please advise when series 4 of Brothers & Sisters will be aired on Channel 4. Thank you
Season 4 will be on More4 towards the end of January 2010
hello, would it be possible to purchase on dvd the excellent series titled “the last voices of world war one”and if so who would i contact? thank you.
That last “Come Dine With Me” in York was absolutely brilliant. I laughed all the way through: pooping snake and the lady with the skimpy outfits. What a good selection of competitors. Check it out: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/come-dine-with-me/4od#3008262
Last Night, I watched Katie Piper My Beautiful Face, it was incredibly touching and has changed my prospective on all those young women who have been abused and had to suffer the consequences, she is an amazing young women with the most loving personality, I just wanted to reach out and give her a huge hug. A fantastic documentary!
I found the execution of Gary Glitter in extreme poor taste. This is a program that should have been made when he was dead not when he is still alive. Is this the way Tv programs are going – shocking
This an emotional subject for me as I am a victim of paedophilia so I will try hard to use restrained and unemotive language to get my point across but forgive me if I stray. I am not only in favour of capital punishment for paedophiles (including those who “just” watch child porn) but also sex traffickers, rapists, serial killers, child battery perpetrators, pimps so I found the program refreshing and hopeful. It seems bizzare and chronically depressing to me that a civilised society would not protect its children and vulnerable citizens from these pyschopaths who really have less value than dog excrement. So what I find more shocking is disgusting crimes that go on with only light punishments and nobody has the guts to stand up to these scum. They can not be rehabilitated and they are just laughing at you when you try. They are highly intelligent and extremely dangerous sick parasites. Serious debate on capital punishment needs to happen soon before vigilantism becomes rife. Please wake up and smell the excrement. Thankyou
Gary Glitter was actually brilliant – not poor taste, but brave imagination. Agree with the Independent tho that it should have been a fictional-but-similar case.
The program “how racist are you?” Was nonsense.. The participants were actors. The blonde haired, blue eyed, south african guy was on another show. I cant remember what it was called but it was a program about your rights when shopping. He was supposed to have been a shopper who bought an iPod for £17.50 Only to have it taken off of him when he left the store.
What is channel 4’s game?
I wish The Execution of Gary Glitter was a true story because what he did was pure evil.
Steve Sheffield
Re Execution of Gary Glitter.
There are thousands of offenders far far worse than Mr Gadd, why pick on him? This program should have been banned.
The producers of “The Execution Of Gary Glitter” should have been aware that the abolition of the death penalty is mandatory for all European Union States. In order to execute Gary Glitter, or anyone for that matter we would have to leave the EU first. I don’t think that any government would want to do that in order to execute any paedophile and least of all one who didn’t actually kill a child. There would be about 100 paedophiles above Glitter on the list before they got to executing him. The programme was a very ill conceived piece of tabloid trash entertainment, not what we would normally expect from a broadcaster like Channel 4.
I really enjoyed ”the family” tonight. It was very funny, and like 20 good episodes of East Enders into one. Where did C4 find this family. Much better than the previous series.
Watching the second series of The Family ,was hooked after the first showing of series One ,same again with this Series ,Great Programme ,brilliant to see other cultures ,many thanks to all who allow us to have a insight to their lives ..this could turn out to be an addiction .
I LOVE THE FAMILY!!!!! IT’S BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!! : )
I have just watched an episode of the Batty Man – Stephen Amos was great. I was absolutely shocked and disgusted with the strong views and narrow mindedness of the black youths interviewed in England. These youths voiced the opinion that gay people in particular gay black people should be killed and have no place in society. I had no idea these views were still prevalent within such a young culture. Stephen Amos was very brave for airing his sexuality amongst these youths and the wider community. Hopefully within time these youths will learn it doesn’t matter what your sexuality is but the fact you are happy and healthy. In Jamaica (where he travelled) the culture was clearly that gay people will be murdered and this view was accepted by the vast majority. Hopefully in time society will allow any gay person to live in peace and not make them hide and leave a secret scared life. Why should any person not be counted in society and deny who they are?
Excellent and informative show, well done to the black men and Stephen for being able to admit they were gay and proud.
I have just watched katie my beautiful face and cannot belive what a brave, inspirational young woman she is. She is still beautiful and i hope she can see that the way everyone else does. She has an amazing personailty and strength of character and really is a normal 25 year old and i sincerly hope she lives life to the full from now on. I hope channel 4 do a follow up becuase she is now a national treasure in so many peoples minds!!
I have just watched katie my beauitful face. What she is going through is very close to my heart and wanted to write and offer support to her.
In 2001 when my wife was 20 she was involved in a house fire in which we suffered 3rd degree bruns to 75% of her body, she lost her fingers and thumbs and spent over 7 months in hospital. Like katie she has had over 30 operations.
Watching what katie went through at the beginning of her recovery brought back some very difficult memories for my wife but she wanted to carry on watching. We both felt the documentory was shot very well. Katie was talking about how she felt and my wife said she felt exaclty the same way.
I hope people who watched this take away that regardless of what happens in life you can survive.
8 Years after her accident my wife has a full time job, she can drive a car and we have married for over a year now. I met her after her accident straight away i saw passed the scars and saw the person within, Katie will find a man who feels the same way as I do.
Sorry if it sounds like I am going on but seeing what my wife went though and where she is now is a Inspiration to me. I love my wife and if she could help katie in any way I know she would.
I, my partner, many of our firends and relations frequently make the same comment regarding very interesting programmes like “Embarassing Bodies”. We all find them difficult and intensly irritating to watch due to the unstable camera work. The pictures are zooming, panning , cutting and swinging all over the place as if the camerman is waving the camera like a drunken sailor. Please , please calm it down, so that we can actually watch these programmes in comfort, and not be forced to switch to other programmes.
With 3d week this week and glasses only available in sainsburys I would like to know how people north of glasgow/edinburgh are meant to get glasses from? Channel 4 seems to have forgotten that there is NO sainsburys in the north of scotland! Very unfair.
Having watched tonight’s Dispatches, I EAGERLY await the Dispatches exposee of the pro-Arab lobby. When will this be shown?
Sorry, I can’t seem to find a country called ‘Arab’ in my atlas.
Thank you Mr Osborn for the first objective analysis of the hidden power of the Israeli lobby which has controlled media and government here for so long.
Well done Channel4, racist comments like this do you proud. What did you expect, bring up the good old Jews control the media, etc.., but substitute ‘Jew’ for ‘Zionist’ and there you go. I look forward to an Dispatches looking into Arab/Muslim control of the media, etc… after all it was Channel4 that would not show the Mohammed cartoons. O yes I forgot it must be the ‘Zionist’ (read Jews) behind that too I suppose.
This made me want to see the program, so I watched on 4ondemand. good program. But why, whenever anything that even hints that Israel is not all lovely and wonderful is said, shown, talked about, is there always a hoohah saying “where is the program on how rotten the Arabs are?” Israel is in the wrong. This is totally clear. What is wrong with anyone else, including the Palestinians, is a separate matter – related perhaps, but separate. The taunt that comes with ANY criticism is tiresome. I notice the only defense is always, well what about the other guys, whose ability to hurt Israelis is something like one-tenth (at their worst) the damage the Israelis inflict on others.
I am going to write my MP about this. I want to see more boycotts against Israel
Dispatches was informative, did “what it said on the packet” and even included a comparison of muslim funding. I’m outraged to find so many of our MP’s should be associated with such groups and seem to rely so heavily on their funding. “No such thing as a free lunch”
If the Israel Lobby are as powerful as your program makes out why is Israel disliked by the majority of Britain and Europe? They can’t be doing a very good job can they? Interestingly there was very little mention of the pro – palistinian movement or any other financial details of other lobby groups for that matter. Just another example of claims that the Jews are taking over the world, where have I heard that before?
Like others, am fascinated how a race can punch so far above it’s weight. Dispatches shows a shadowy agenda and overeager playing of the antisemitic card ( by the way we always hear of antisemitic, but what is “semitic”, which has generated so much “anti” over centuries and across continents ?
Having watched dispatches last time 2 things came straight to my mind.
1. Really an eye opener after I wrongly believed that some Hamas guy was throwing missiles at the Israeli …or were the Lebanese Hezbollah?
2. As you pointed out you could not find any trace of wrongdoing so can I suggest a new title? “what is Britain doing in Afghanistan?” and please show us doctors, hospitals and wounded children…I believe you can find some wounded civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan as well, come on…all these wounded children and ER doctors cannot possibly live all in Gaza!
Thanks channel 4 for the best food show on tv. The F word as usual was great and it helped me discover some great restaurants in my area. Gordon was on par as always.
I have jsut watched Dispatches on the Israel Lobby. Thank for your courage in making and showing this programme. I feel touched and a touch pride in being British, when I hear you speak out, after so much of the truth around Israel has been fudged for so long and so much.
It was stunningly refreshing to see a programme about the Israel lobby that presented fact based, professional journalism. Hopefully the programme with shame most of the other media and start a more open debate about the UK’s foreign policies regarding the State of Israel if only on the moral and humanitarian levels.
On a related issue I think your website is too humble in that there are loads of links to allow me to make a complaint, or report concerns about factual inaccuracies but it has been very difficult to find where I can offer praise and congratulations for a brave and very necessary broadcast.
I have seen Cesar Millan is appearing on the Paul O’Grady show. I wonder how chanel 4 and Paul O’Grady feel about promoting a man that uses outdated, non-scientific training techniques and lumps together all canine behaviour problems under the same umbrella instead of assessing them on the individual problems that they are thus treating each dog correctly?
Dispatches about the Israeli Lobby in this country made me feel how a Jewish person must have felt in the early days of Nazism in Germany. I just cannot understand the point that the programme was trying to prove except that anti – semitism is alive and well in The U.K. today and will no doubt flourish as a result of that programme.
Watching Ruth Watson this week made me extremely angry with her comments about the aged “Their toothless gums on custard” She should not be permitted to utter such vile comments. The aged are not an alien group, we are all in the queue and eventually we will be the aged and the infirm.
Ruth Watson’s language is obscene. What is happening to Channel 4. Who permits this downward slide into bad taste and the so frequent use of extremely bad language
I have just watched confessions if actraffic warden-Cutting Edge. I have a new found respect for traffic wardens. The contracted company covering the Westminster area is clearly applying pressure and taking advantage of those who seek to work and contribute to society in this country, however the British public appear to use this ’set-up’ to excercise their ignorance and racist attitudes toward those who are willing to do the job that none of them want to do. It saddens me that a police officer can tell a public servant that being called a racist abusive name, such as ‘coon’ is not an offence, as far as I was aware this is classed as hate crime! If a nember of the public calls a nurse/doctor or anyone else an abusive racist name that is considered a hate crime. Is it that this level of crime dies not apply to traffic wardens because the majority are immigrants? Having ‘white’ aggrssive people seems to be the exception to the rule. I am ashamed that the people of England still believe that they have the right to abuse any and every national who cones to this country but has an expectation of respect when they travel the globe. As Durga said, ‘if the rules are not followed (by all) then society will fall’. This is clearly apparent in this country, but as per usual the White British will not take responsibility for their own demise they will look to point the finger at the ‘non’ White British, simply because they are incapable of recognising their ignorance, arrogance and egotistical, embread behaviour. The behaviour and ATTITUDE that is spewed out smacks of the 1950’s when immigrants/British nationals were invited to this country to clean the streets and work on the buses that the lazy British people did not want to undertake, but later complained that too many immigrants were taking ‘their’ jobs!
Hi I would just like to say thankyou to channel 4 for Misfits. This programme must be the most entertaining show i’ve seen by any broadcaster for a long time. Thankyou soooo much!
I missed Confessions of a Traffic Warden Last night can you put it on 4oD so that I can watch it?
