Lets Please heer it for the English. This is the language we all speak and we are the largest poppulation in the country. I am fed up of constantly hearing references to Scottish, Welsh and British, were are the English, the majority shareholders. What do the Eglish think, what do the Enlgish say about things in general. So lets hear it for the English please.
To say that you are so big on the English, you don’t have a very good command of the english language. You can’t even spell English.
How boring would it be to only hear the views of one nationality.
I have Italian students that have been studying English for two months that manage to make fewer spelling mistakes than you…. Or at the very least they know how to use a spell checker.
Personally, being Welsh, I think that even if they have the largest “poppulation”, the “Eglish” or the “Enlgish” or even the English need to get over themselves.
To Channel 4 for airing another one of those indoctrination programs – The Event: How racist are you?
As usual it was basically aimed at the English to brainwash all who viewed it that it is only the English who are racist, when in fact, most if not all of the ethnic minority groups in the UK are far more racist than we English. For instance: The Indians absolutely hate the Pakistanis and vice versa with a fervour that the English could never match! Some of the Asian religions even ban the shadow of a person of a different religion from passing over them! How racist can you get!
I could see what was coming and was, frankly, very annoyed. But I’ve met such techniques before in the study of psychology. They remind me of the high-emotion evoking techniques used by cults and, interestingly deprogrammers, to produce guilt, fear and confusion in order to create disassociation and mental openness to the ideas to be implanted. I’m not surprised that you would try to use such techniques on nationalists.“ The part of the project to segregate blue eyed white people, basically to let them know what it supposedly feels like to be treated as an ethnic minority in England… and the brainwashing and profiling was something that I would have viewed as being worthy of Hitler and the Nazi’s?
But of course the goal posts are moved when we profile our identity as being English and simply want some understanding of our predicament without prejudice to others?
Of course we all know that ethnic minority groups are championed and protected by this far left anti-English British Government and the establishment in England which has resulted in the ethnic minorities having more institutions than us English in our own land!
Ethnic minority groups have many charities, support groups, clubs, community centres, Mosques and Temples, pressure groups, racism laws and legislations – the Positive Discrimination Act and their own sections based on race within all sorts of established organisations such as the Black Police Assoc. for example and there are very many others.
Can we English name the same amount of institutions for us? Absolutely not. We are not allowed to discriminate when choosing membership of our groups. Oh No. The latest court case relating to membership rules of the BNP proves that. It doesn’t matter whether or not you support their politics, they should have the same rights as every other organisation, but obviously….they don’t!
The British Government has bent over backwards in favour of ethnic minority groups whilst brushing aside the English and claiming that this is a lovely diverse country, when it suites them… we have plenty of evidence as proof that it’s not, and then programs like this are churned out with a sudden change of heart that England is not the lovely diverse country that they say it is………..when it suites them…!. The outcome of programs like this is sheer anger and frustration from the ethnic English who will then channel that anger into English nationalism. (thank you channel four for helping the English Nationalist movement along).

Now who really should this program have been aimed at?

Why is channel four so obsessed with programs about 9/11? Yes, it was a terrible thing, Yes alot of good people died. But HELLO, has everyone forgot about what happened in london? Im sorry but i think what happens in our country is much more important than what happens in another- especially america. GET SOME PROGRAMS ABOUT THE LONDON BOMBING ON OR STOP SHOWING 9/11 PROGRAMS ALL TOGETHER. its disgusting how a british tv channel can do such a thing
I think history will probably record that the events of 9/11 were as significant as the assasination of Archduke Ferdinand in 1914. That day is a landmark in world history and it changed the course of events for, well its 8 years so far and we’re still counting. Under those circumstances I don’t think I’d criticise Channel 4 for showing programmes about 9/11. Its right that they should.
If any criticism is due, it is that some of the subject matter is a bit too morbid. I saw the trailers for the programme about the final phone calls and decided it wasn’t for me. That sort of material is not really history, its sensationalism…
Derren Brown’s casino stunt victim was clearly sweating profusely when he received the call to say he was the star of the show. Would this be the sign of someone sitting on their sofa watching TV entertainment or someone who actually knows they’re about to go on live TV to millions? A small but very telling detail that could have been prevented with a stick of roll-on or a better choice of shirt…..RUMBLED!!!!
I’d like to complain about 4oD. First off, the picture quality is frankly terrible. Youtube and iPlayer which are free, already offer HQ and HD features whilst 4oD is still living in the past. Your picture quality is so terrible that it makes shows like Gok’s look like old-school digital p*rn. My 2nd complaint is with the speed of updating online catalogue. Very often, especially during the recent Big Brother, I’ve had to complain that online catch-ups were not available after broadcast (sometimes as much as 5 days worth of wait) and often I had to resort to searching for user uploads on Youtube for catch-up. I believe that such slackness and poor quality will eventually alienate viewers such as myself. Thanks for reading.

one thing thats realy annoying with most channels these days are the constant adverts for up and coming programs constantly popping up on my screen. watching hollyoaks today (sunday) I had to turn off, why, becuase I have ricky gervais bang in the middle of my screen and I hate the bloke SO THANKS C4 FOR RUINING MY PROGRAM to a point I just had to turn off. not only that but tv channels now seem to be putting bigger and bigger logos on screen to a point where they interfere with being able to see whats going on. will the tv channels also pay for the damage to my plasma due to the fact their logos are getting burnt into my screen, I some how thing not. Get rid of them I know what channel I’m watching I’m not that thick.
and lets not forget that americans were resposnsible for the funding of the IRA and the american goverment REFUSED to anything about it. But when they get a taste of terrorism on their home ground it’s a totally different story, they want to start world war three and constantly try to stuff it down our throats every three minutes
Having just watched “Come Dine With Me” and heard contestant Jane say that she was rather “irritated by a small ginger creature”, I wondered if her comment would have been deemed acceptable for broadcast, or even legal, had the word “black” replaced the word “ginger”. I was offended by her comment as I believe it to be rascist and toally unacceptable.
I know I would be more offended by someone referring to me as a ‘creature’ than whether I was black or ginger (of which I am the former) as in this case, but my view is irrelevant if someone feels offense it is an offensive remark whether it falls under the realm of a racist comment is something Channel 4 will have to decide
I think there are a lot of viewers that would like to see a considered effort to rebuke much of what Richard Dawkins feels is self evident. The BBC had a number of documentaries that outlined in a balanced way the effects of Darwinian theory on human society. While Dawkins crusade will grab a lot of viewers who want to be told what they already believe, there are more sophisticated viewers who wish Channel 4 would produce more documentaries that could genuinely educate and stimulate an adult mind. Considering the amount of air-time received by Dawkins and his platitudes, is there a possibility of producing a documentary series that deals explicitly with the philosophical difficulties that Dawkins over-stretched and cliched cultural Darwinism really encounters in Academia. I write this because I believe Dawkins is a misrepresentation of the value of academia in society. Academics that abuse their authority by using the estime they hold in society by engaging the public with their personal beliefs, without engaging fully with intellectual adversaries. His beliefs about evolution, human emotion and moral systems are massively contentious and, in my view, unsustainable under intellectual scrutiny. Therefore, given the susceptibility of people to take in views uncritically, it is my view that it is Channel 4’s responsibility not to mislead them. Even if Dawkins is completely correct in his views, it is still Channel 4’s responsibility to scrutinize the views expressed if the documentarian does not wish to do so himself because views expressed, however “scientific” are not inconsequential.
Having watched Richard Dawkins trilogy ‘the genius of Darwin’, I must protest strongly that he should not include all religions in his assertion that they are wrong.
He has obviously never studied the Qur’an nor tried to find out what Islam is all about because if he did, he would realise that Darwin did get it wrong.
Nature and our bodies get on with the process of living and reproduction, not because some aimless, non existent entity is responsible but because the universe hymns the symphony of it’s Creator.
Similarities in everything are there because that is the signiture of One Wise Creator,
I hope Mr Dawkin will try to meet some real learned people like Dr Naik of the Islamic Research Foundation, who has an enormous wealth of knowledge about comparative religions, or watch ‘Peace TV’.
Product Placement. What hypocracy is the debate about new laws regarding product placement.We already have product placement on the BBC. Just tuirn on to watch any sports fixture. All those advertisers don’t place their billboards around the ground or arena for the sheer fun of it – they do so to attract viewers. Al sports venues currently allow product placement – it brings in revenue.

I think it is in the final part of ‘the genus of Darwin’, where Prof Dawkins blasts the students and the Science teachers for not teaching evolution as a fact.
His justification being, ‘but you are scientists!’
As if you have to an atheist to be a scientist.
In all his years in academia, he hasn’t worked out that Science is a tool, It is not the temple for Atheists.
Just as a knife is a tool which can do different things for different users e.g. a soldier, or a chef or a surgeon.
Prof Dawkin has misused his position to promote his many books and contentious ideas, and the elite University of Oxford should be ashamed to let such a person abuse it’s name.
I would like to ask him, given a choice, would he have a God who promises reward for good work, being charitable,and who testifies in many religious Books e.g the Torah, the Bible and the Quran, “that ‘He’ (God) Originates Creation and Reproduces it” or would he rather die believing in evolution which has no purpose, no direction, no reward?
Why does he want everyone else to make the same choice?
The Quran says, for the latter case is a hapless journey’s end.’
This is not a place to promote Islam, but there are hundreds of verses in the Quran whose authenticity has been verified by modern day Scientists because only now we have powerful enough microscopes and telescopes to scrutinise God’s universe, the Earth and ourselves.

Why do Channel 4 keep changing the time or day that Ugly Betty is on? It’s so annoying. A few wednesdays ago it wasn’t even on and tonight there is True Blood instead and it seems Ugly Betty has been moved again! Ugly Betty is a well loved show so please stop treating it as if it’s a filler and moving it any where and everywhere.
Did anyone see the sumbliminal image flashed across our screens on the Derren Brown show during the time he was supposedly ‘hypnotising the nation through their T.V?’ I’m referring to the show in which Derren influenced watchers to become ‘fixed’ in their seats? There was an image of an adult bound by rope in an armchair…….wasn’t there?
I just wondered what has happened to 4OD? It used to have plenty of programs that you could watch, all very quick and easily.
Now you get a list of programs…but most you can’t actually watch, so what’s the point of them being there…and you have to click various links to actually get to the bit you want….before finding out, you can’t actually watch them.

I have a question for you, How could you sell the rights for the show IT Crowd? It was such a unique Show, it was very funny and original, just something different.I was really happy watching it. Now Hollywood baught the rights of this great show and is going to turn it into the same crap we are used to. How could you do that? This greed is horrible, I think you would have maken enough money if you kept on showing this Show. Please tell me what the reason was(besides money)?

i recently found “Dumped” on your site and thoroughly enjoyed it. it has made me make a conscious effort to reduce my carbon footprint. my recycling bin is now fuller than my rubbish bin!! raising awareness with programmes such as this give an important though enjoyable message (if you haven’t seen it – seek it out). i feel the programme has encouraged me to “do my bit” and maybe channel 4 could do a bit more by sending a copy to all high schools with the suggestion that it could be incorporated into the national curriculum

Congratulations on the repeated showing of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip on channel 4.
Is there any reason why the show running order has jumped from the premier episode to directly to episode 5. For a series which only has 22 episodes in its entirety missing out the 4 which define the story arcs for the rest of the season pretty much miss the point.
Its not as if they are available on 4OD to watch during the week.
I know it’s ridiculous. Why do Channel 4 bother showing Studio 60 at all if they’re just going to show the episodes in the wrong order at 4am??
Was it only me watching countdown 5-10-09 cos no-one else I`ve spoken to noticed it I refer of course to the 3rd letters game in the second part of the show when the contestant says consonant,consonant,consonant,D,L and E come out ,well as far as I can remember E is a vowel no one in the studio said anything and when I played it back twice for my family without telling, they never clicked either I cant be the only one who spotted that………CAN I ?

I’d like to complain about Kirsty and Phil’s programs (Location, Location, Location Etc..) and the types of people who always seem to appear. Why do they always seem to be incredibly rich? I would love to see the pair find a fantastic rental property in a south east london suburb for a budget of 900 pounds per month.
I’m sure we could all find some nice properties for a budget of 650,000 pounds but that doesn’t really apply to most of us!
Also whats up with the Home Show? Why is the budget that the homeowner provide to George Clarke never enough for his ambitions? Does he really enjoy spending other peoples money that much? He seems to bully them into spending their entire life savings and getting themselves into horrific debt just to please his ego… weird!
After watching The Bigamist Bride my five husbands on 22nd October, I was appalled at the insensitivity shown to Her five husbands. As a victim of a bigamous marriage, there was no thougt or feeling shown to how her ex partners coped, it seemed to focus on her and how she gave marriage such little thought. She then had the nerve to say they knew what thet were doing.
Scrapheap on the scrapheap. I am actually a fan of Dick Strawbridge but not in this format. Channel 4 attempted to fix something which wasn’t broken, and in the attempt, broke it. Scrap the new scrapheap!!! Bring back the dynamic duo Richard and Lisa !!
In regards to the STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP repeats being messed up – it’s because Channel 4 no longer own the rights to air some episodes! As such, when I telephoned them about this, this is what they told me. Clearly, if they don’t have the rights to air ALL of the episodes, what’s the point in showing ANY of them, bearing in mind the show only runs for 22 episodes, and each episodes continues on from the end of the previous one! (For fans, you can buy the series on DVD from Amazon.co.uk, for less than £14 now – which is what I’ve done, seeing as C4 screwed-up the repeats!)
Secondly, are C4 ever going to air the final 5 ten-minute episodes of AFTERWORLD, the animated sci-fi drama that was started during the summer?!
Lastly, why was UGLY BETTY moved from Wednesdays at 10pm, to Mondays at 10pm. Surely it would have made more sense to put TRUE BLOOD on a Monday night (with the repeat on Fridays), and keep UGLY BETTY where she was?!
Channel 4’s track records of ruining US dramas and US shows in general, appears to continue to decline, in the way they are scheduled. If it’s not reality TV, then it appears C4 don’t care when of if a show gets put on. You used to be the best with US dramas. Now, even Five and FX treat their US shows with more respect.
Please channel 4, Can you please scrap the new scrap heap challenge and bring back the old format! It was funnier, easier to watch and really it was all on a scrap heap like the name says, Ok apart from the testing bit! Robert lleweyn has got to be the best guy for the job and Liza rogers too!
On may of the channels each week their is a banner that goes across the top of the screen of a warning. It is in green with white lettering. I would be a lot better to see it,if it had black lettering.
I find the entire idea of the upcoming show “THE EVENT: HOW RACIST ARE YOU?” racist in it’s self.
The mere suggestion that racism is one way is insulting and just as racist (by this psuedo propoganda meaning being used these days) as the racism they are wanting to stamp out. I’m a white male and have experienced more racism and prejudice then any so called racial minorities I know and speak with on a daily basis.
The sheer over use of ‘political correctness’ is bending the true meaning of Racism to the point where being white is almost a hate crime by default.
From my vantage point of refusing to take part in humanity racism comes mostly from the ‘minorities’ towards themselves.
The entire show is redundant and quite frankly an insult by showing how far white people will have to go to try and show they aren’t ‘racist’
Have just watched the programme about race and intelligence and found it very interesting.
Part of the message of the show seemed to be that believing certain races are less intelligent is rascist and wrong. However, one interviewee suggested that the reason black kids under-achieve is because they think that to be clever or to pick up a book is seen as being “white”. This way of thinking is rascist in itself and yet did not seem to be picked up on. Rascism against black and asians is allways reported about with a sense of disgust and anger and rightly so. Why is underlying rascism against white people ignored.
But the programme about race and intelligence concentrated on America where black people have been mistreated for hundreds of years. It would be much more interesting to research intelligence in Africa where, in my experience, people think differently from Europeans and so would need different tests of intelligence. For example, when I lived in Ghana, I found out that everything had another meaning apart from the obvious. Whatever someone said had another meaning, Designs on cloths had different meanings. Designs on furniture had meanings. Hand signals had meanings and so on. Europeans mostly completely missed the real meaning of everything. I kept on asking my students what everything meant. I was amazed. We should not measure black people’s intelligence through european methods.
Have to comment on the large number of racial subject matter documentaries on the channel.
Being a person of white decent (I prefer the word British) I have to say that I am sick and tired having the racist issue rammed down my throat at every opportunity.
There are real racists in this country. People who would happily harm or abuse a stranger simply based on the colour of their skin. This is something that would disgust most average white British people including myself.
I do not see colour, simply different cultures.
Culture is the real issue.
I don’t particularly like Scottish people….why….because a lot of them still harp on about the injustices heaped on them by the English, live in England but still have scottish flags on their cars and harp on about how proud they are to be scottish. Get over it, it was hundreds of years ago.
However, if I make it obvious in any way that I do not like a Scottish person the chances are they would not call me a racist.
It is so easy for black and asian people who themselves are no more or less racist than we are to blame all their failings on racism. White people have to face their failings and deal with them.
Why do we hear a lot less complaints of racism from the asian community. They are far more integrated and successful than the African and Carribean communities??Many of them came here with nothing as well.
Many of the black people I encounter have such a chip on their shoulder and such a different attitude to life in general that there is very little common ground to build any relationship on.
I feel I am so self concious and analytical about my own attitudes that it also becomes a hinderance.
This is partly down to the constant barage of racism accusations in the media.
Every programme has a token colored person and all news, current affairs, and childrens programmes have an over representation of minorities. Put this together with employment quotas based on race and other positive discrimination we then have a situation that risks turning normal non racist people against real and constructive steps aimed at real integration.
This hidden agenda to make us accept coloured people is not appreciated.
Congratulations to Rageh Omaar for his wonderfully balanced investigation of a ‘scientific’ delusion (Race and Intelligence). However, you give a lot of air space to Richard Dawkins with very little attempt to balance his views of religion against more scientifically informed opinion. Dawkins is an excellent science populariser within a very narrow range of knowledge. On religion he ignores evidence of many kinds and presents his own commonsensical opinions, not realising that he has reinvented long discredited theories of the 19th century British Intellectualists. I think people need to see a programme confronting Dawkins with major researchers in anthropology, consciousness science, developmental psychology, spiritual experience, and psi. If you don’t want to do this I may do it myself. Could you suggest a suitable production company?
I for one was very disappointed to learn that More 4 will now be broadcasting the mutant dog show, otherwise known as “Crufts”, after the BBC’s pull out.
the programme on racism with jane elliot is a load of rubbish, it is just an old crazy woman with a stupid idea stuck in her head bullying people for her own satisfaction of having power over others. she is making out that the only people that are racist are white people to black people but everyone knows this is not true. i think she needs to be put up against a group ov the proper general public off the estates like the one that me and most of my friends live. some of the people that were on there tonite started to argue but were still very tame, somone needs to tell her shes talking ******** and put her straight that her experiment is stupid and shes wasted her life doing it.
I have just watched the programme The event: How racist are you?, and I feel very offended about the assumption made by the person who instigated the whole social experiment, that all white people are racist. To define racism for the purpose of this, I believe it can be summarised as a person or a group of people who have the power to negatively impact on another person or group of peoples wellbeing, phsyically and mentally, because of any number of things ( whether you could change them or not). Essentially Racism is discrimination. Which is what I went through for 10 years of my life, it got so bad, i was very depressed and suicidal throughout a time of my life when I should have been concentrating on my education. All because my hair was frizzy and curly (which at the time, I couldn’t really change, nor would I have done if I could, because my hair is part of who I am). Exclaiming that all white people are racist, IS racist, and therefore the whole show is a huge hyprocisy. In conclusion, I would like to point out that I believe all descrimination should be pointed up, and everybody made aware of the inherit bias we show in this country, but by someone who has a balanced mental state and who isn’t rascist themselves.
I’ve just watched The Event: How Racist Are You? I don’t think it was a fair experiment if I’m honest. To say that racism isn’t a problem in Britain is of course ignorant but to think that racism only exists on one side is as much if not more ignorant.
After watching all of the ‘Race’ series so far, it seemingly highlights how much racism is apparent in society but it is now time to divert attention towards homophobia. Will homophobic attitudes ever be highlighted by C4?
In more countries than less, it is an illegal offence to be a homosexual; can you imagine being told to go to prison for fifteen years because of something you can’t help and if you’re not ‘normal’ again after fifteen years you’ll be executed? This happens. Hundreds of gay teenagers commit suicide ever year because society tells them they’re abnormal. When are we going to discuss this?
Also, whoever was in charge of rescheduling Ugly Betty needs to be fired. What a cock-up!
Plz mind my spelling mistakes due to dyslexia but after watching how racist are u I found that to be one of the pointless tests ever singliseing minortys to racism me personally I live in bradford and as a white minority I avoid walking thru cirtan places because of percicution. I am currently a student at BCU School of Media. I watched the programme earlier tonight and I would just like to point out that the programme was not about how white people are racist to ethnic minorities but purely an exercise for those who may not have understood what it was meant by the term ‘racism’ as that in itself is lengthy and controversial and I admire the producers of Channel 4 for broadcasting this event, even if it did not have the desired affect on the participants.
I actually studied this particular video as part of research for an academic essay and analysed it and I thought personally it was disgraceful that the participants were not more willing to make an effort on the programme tonight, as the experiment was based on previous methods used within the American school’ several years ago’. Albeit times have changed, the method has been found to prove educational. It is disgraceful that amongst all the experiments, Britain are the only country who seem not to have made any connection, or taken and interest or education from the experience.
I really respected the older female at the end for standing up and making the comment how she struggles to manage yet, her grandchildren and children cope fine as it shows tolerance and respect. I think it would be wise to show the original programme back as a comparison for the public to view.
I watched the show ‘how racist are you’ noting the old american teachers tactics for establishing the dynamic between system/individual – interesting, but nothing new. The bit that shocked me was the brit teacher who snided about pink skin of a black student – my mouth fell open at that comment. I have never reacted to the point where I felt the need to write in and comment about a tv programe, she should be sacked. The defence mechanism for covering her rudeness/racism may have fooled the school who employ her, but for the tv, she totally played herself!! nasty person, with a lot more to learn than she (foolishly) thinks. Outragous for a UK school teacher to observe mystery around whats underneath, obviously, not a science teacher???
that teachers comment about pink skin underneth doesnt make her necessarily rascist or nasty, it just makes her extremely stupid !
I watched The Event: How Rascist Are You? I had thought that this type of experiment had been done for decades, not just by her but all types of social researchers, I seem to recall it as basic A-level stuff in which social researchers back in the 60’s and 70’s tried to show how easy it is for normal people to turn against other normal people. I’m confused as to what it proved or why Channel 4 felt this woman’s outdated methodology was worthy of its own programme? With due respect, I’m afraid that the woman (can’t recall her name) and her “research” puts the cause of black people back at least 50 years. Her views and opinions were highly subjective and her methods designed to simply “prove” her own convictions. It seems, according to her, that only black people can experience discrimination. How odd, is she saying that women don’t? It seems she is as when white women told her they too were disciminated against, their opinions were deemed inconvenient and of no interest simply because they were white…hhhmmmmm, that sounds familiar and worryingly like discrimination based on a person’s skin colour…?? Surely not….??
After watching the show the event how racist are you I have to say that I am appalled at the allegations towards white people. I am a white person and I don’t appreciate being called a racist or having it implied. Racism is not one sided and can take place in any situation to anyone no matter their colour. In the show it was assumed that all white people are “genetically programmed” to be racist, I have been born into a world where all races are accepted and therefore I am not a racist. I found this show very ironic as it’s a show to highlight and try and stop racism when the presenter herself was racist towards people of white colour. I for one have tried to stop racism towards people in any opportunity that I get and to be blamed for the racism out there is unacceptable and maybe people should focus on stopping racism instead of passing the blame. Me and my friends have family members and friends who are of different ethnic origin and who are a different race, I don’t see any difference between people because of their skin colour and therefore to hear on television that white people are basically the blame is discussing. Everyone in their life suffers from some kind of racism or prejudice that’s not just defined by a race. Different people bully, different people are racist and different people are prejudice no matter their skin colour. So I suggest that people stop passing the blame and focus on the people who are actually causing racism because this show was racist and very offensive to me. Shows like this are the reason racism continues to happen because everyone blames innocent people instead of standing up and fighting the real cause because their to scared of the outcome.
Of course she was racist and for an educator, sadly she was very uneducated…she lacked any understanding of what was happening and most people in the blue eyed group failed to get the point…we put up with this all the time because we have black skin..also the brown eyed sabotuer…..again proved the point……stop the experiment and stop her racism being exposed…
I thought the programme ‘How Racist Are you’ did actually highlight the deep rooted prejudices that people in regards to race. Ethnic minorities who usually conform or do not feel able to talk about such issues were able to air their views freely in the experiment as ’superiors’ in this experiement. The ‘whites’ who really had a problem with race for shown for what they were. They were in denial or did not want to admit their was an issue as they have been used to having been superior in this society all their lives. Not everyone is racist and racism can occur from all ethnic groups. We need to bear this in mind with this experient.But the programme did highlight, with the few characters who stood out in this documentary, that Jane Elliott was right in showing that racism when it exists is very deep rooted and can be exposed under such a brutal experiment where people are unable to hide their subtleties any longer.
Derren Brown’s recent show about controlling the nation where he attempted to get us all stuck to our sofas featured a lot of subliminal messaging with pictures flashing on our screens throughout the program. Since then, on channel 4, E4 and the plus one channels we have seen a lot of flashes of pictures like the ones in the show. Does anyone know why this is and what channel 4 are doing it for? Its quite unnerving and putting me off watching the channels until i know more.
I thought the program “The Event – How Racist are you?” was ridiculous, it basically made out that all white people are racist! All the people in the blue eyed team understood about the racism but they were just saying it’s not all black people who are discriminated and it isn’t! The young woman who was saying she had racist comments made to her didn’t get any sympathy the two black women just laughed at her! I think this country has turned crazy, we are all so obsessed with saying things that might hurt different races, i mean whats baa baa black sheep got to do with black people??? or black board??? there’s still a white board? does that count or does it not matter? I have friends/family of different race and have never thought any different to them just because of there colour and even sometimes they can take jokes just like I can if I had a white joke told to me, It is seriously out of control, we go to a different country and have to obide by there rules but different race come here and yet they don’t have to follow our rules, we pussy foot around them. I thought for the man to say he wouldn’t pick his daugter up from school because he’s black was bad because he should show his daughter he’s proud of who he is, but I do think the other comments were true about looking scruffy or having a skin head or being scouser etc, They all get discriminated against, its not all about being black, fair enough you can’t change the colour of your skin but some people can’t lose weight and struggle with or some people may like having a bit of meat on them and will still get critisised. I think we need to seriously understand the word RACISM, its not all based on black/asian people, white people are affected too!
