Channel 4 has announced today that it will not be renewing its rights deal for Big Brother when its contract with programme maker Endemol ends in 2010. This means that next year’s series of Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother will be the last on Channel 4.

It seems like a really big moment for me. As viewers’ editor, Big Brother has been a huge part of my job – I’ve shared the highs and lows of the Big Brother audience and been alongside the producers and commissioners during each series letting them know just what the viewers are feeling about their show.
I have mixed emotions about the decision, and a lot of that is a feeling that I may be losing contact with a great bunch of people who love the show and have never been shy about telling me how they feel – whether that has been critical or complimentary.
So on that note, here’s a chance to tell me how you feel about the end of Big Brother on Channel 4. The natural end of an era? Time for something new? An opportunity for different types of programming? The floor is yours…

Good Riddance. Big Brother, even the name, plays on everything that is wrong with our society and encourages it…

Worst move Channel4 could have made, C4 have gone out of their way to wreck Big Brother so no other broadcaster would pick it up – Fact.
You removed multi-cam live feed, you then removed the internet live feed, you then got shot of the red button and as a finally kick in the teeth to the fans you cut the daytime live feed completely!
You destroyed the purpose of Big Brother and alot of fans will agree with me.
By axing Big Brother and not giving it one last chance (it really deserves it, with a few format tweaks you had the perfect programme) you have isolated alot of fans.
It’s Brookside all over again, but much bigger this time.
Fancy getting rid of your highest rating programme!
The excuse used it pittiful “Channel 4 wants to move on” – Why not do the same with E4 and finally get shot of FRIENDS?
I thought BB had already finnished, don`t hear much about it now.
The sooner it`s gone the better.
This is a sad day for all Big Brother fans! What goes on in a Channel 4 decision maker’s head? I really do think that they have lost the plot. Big Brother is one of the most popular programs that Channel 4 make and if they can’t see how different it is every year then they need help.
I hope another channel takes on Big Brother, its was a big mistake for C4 and they will loose many viewers.
Does anyone wonder why C4 is absolving the relationship with BB? for starters the last couple of seasons have been riddled with really bad content, the swearing screaming fighting, stealing of others property, not to mention the relationships , promisquity of same gender relationships i am bias but most of the public are not, i’m just saying the corporate comerical sponsorship looks at that and says do we want our children watching this around the clock, personaly i like 90% of t, i can do w/o the chaos that erupts everytime alcohol is added, they are not setting a good example for all the younger viewers, i an not against drinking either am i against same sex partners, i just dont think C4 thinks they want to be the vessel of the above mentioned plus much much more, BB is C4’s #1 show and it comes down to the bottom line… not to mention Risk vs Reward, does C4 want to sign another 10 year contract and downgrade the quality of its show and the corporate sponsorship.
Do not blame C4 not in any way, blame edmndo and the class of some of the housemates they allow into the BB house (not taking anything away from Edmondo)

Why C4 is saying bye bye to BB
TV is for entertainment mostly, do you want your children learning things about life from BB? eg.. mum is it ok for boys to kiss boys with tongue for 10 seconds? mum what is the Graveyard shift mean? is that when daddie does to work at night and i see him in the morning or is it BB’s meaning of the Grave Yard shift.Do you want your kids asking what alcohol is and why do they yell, scream, fight, steal each others cans of cider, bottles of wine, mum what are they doing under the blankets i hear alot of sounds what are they? and not to mention Sophie coming clean(while drinking) about her and Kriss having sex ” we did it in bed at night very quietly” why has Sophie gained so much weight mum is she pregnant? how do you explain these questions and many many many more?
Ok now C4 and its Corporate sponsors(comercial clients) have been going back and forth the last few seasons and came to the decision, do we as a group re-sign BB and it’s fine upstanding positive light it shines on the public and its viewers, i don’t think they want to be responsible for shaping our future generations, children eat this entertainment up and ask for 2nd helpings, C4 and its ppl had to make the right decesion and let it go, sure some other network will pick it up, but i doubt there’s any one network that will put the resources into the show, C4+BB did something that was/is almost unheard of in UK TV make it 10 seasons, sure we will have alot of good funny entertaining memories, 90%+ ppl will miss certain parts of it, but what do you expect when 10+ ppl are sitting/laying around not doing anything to stimulate their minds bodies and souls, sheesh a gyn and some weights, i mean proper sets would be ideal, not to mention more challenges, secret missions in around and yes out of BB, i tried sending emails to BBuk with challenges and missions , ideas (a) to make the show and its viewers laugh and cringe positively (b) if the housemates are occupied even if its only 3 to 4 hours a day or every other day, they come from an active life to staring at the 4 walls 24/7, this game is a social experiment, mice in a gace get a wheel at least to burn off some of the negative energy
(c)C4 has known for a while and it shows this years bunch walks around the house as if they were dragging a small washing machine, no energy, sleeping all day is a recipe for bad TV.
C4 is not the bad guy here, it is a numbers game in the end dollars and cents risk vs rewards and theymade the ONLY decision they could.
why does every email i send in asking questionable questions, none have profanity.. answer me one question what if Sophie is Pregnant, is it wise to allow her to drink alcohol? can BB ask her to set the record straight let alone Sophie she mentions her being pregnant at least 3 to 5 times per episode, please for Sophies well being and to publics unanswered questions….
MANY TAHNKS

Channel 4 would boost it’s bb viewers by having a final show which involves all 10 bb winners returning to the house for one last time to fight for the title of ultimate bb housemate!! What a perfect finale to a fantastic show!!
to right.everything you said is right.keep big brother going for a few more years
hi sally good idea i was thinking what a good to have 3 or 4 from each series
It all got a bit out-of-hand when the attention-seeking “I have no hope of getting famous any other way” people started appearing.
The first two series were pretty good though – when it was new and exciting.
