Watched the complete series of the Big Art Project. A fascinating look at public art and those involved in the projects.
How some of the projects polarised communities while others seemed to galvanise the population.
While an element of philistines will point to art as money wasted better spent on hospitals etc. however given the money squandered on wars that need not have been fought , money used to prop up the banking system that had been allowed to run their own house or MP’s , well we all know what they have been up to.

Why do we have to have constant music in the background of documentaries?. Being somewhat hard of hearing I find the music blurs the speech and is often too loud.
Yesterday’s Time Team Stonehenge was a classic example. The music drowned out Tony Robinson’s commentary, was disjointed and added nothing to what should have been a fascinating documentary. I had to abandon it about halfway through when I grew too exasperated trying to follow the words. I know many of my friends, all of a similar age (60’s) have this problem, and as we represent the largest segment of population, I assume it’s pretty universal.
I find it patronising that program makers seem to feel we would lose interest if there are only words.
Background, and I stress background music is fine, but I have had to abandon far too many programmes because of the excessive level of music.
I do have an excellent hearing aid, but this cannot cope with the far too loud score, any more than my wife’s excellent hearing can.
A shame but Stonehenge joins many other programmes I never got to finish watching.

With regard to “background music”, whilst I fully understand that sometimes it is needed to create atmoshere, I just wish the sound mixers would keep it in the background where it belongs! I remain very sad about the terrible suffering of “baby “Peter and agonise about how we as a society could have spared him from the extreme cruelty and terrible injuries he endured leading to his death. We should debate this now.

Frightened of any faux pas slipping through if its live upsetting the government . Note how you didnt get answer why TV Show is now not live.
Also intestesting it was recorded before BB 10 UK started :-) ))))

As far as the rated/slated for May taking till 4th to be published. No suprise there IMHO. Had to think a way up to try and make out the BB number of 24/7 live feed complaints was 99 whereas we know its alot higher ;-) ))

Plus this program is only made about once every six weeks isnt it ? Cant been saving alot. Also limits who can get on the show to air their views.
In fact seems fits perfectly with my previous reply IMHO.

Still IMHO its consistent with the obvious comtempt Channel 4 seems to have for its viewers and more to the point Taxpayers who you want to bail you via pleading poverty to the government

For an hour, every night, we will be subjected to this on C4, this rubbish. I do mean, rubbish. It dominates the TV schedule – and E4 see’s it’s “Big Brother Live” stream, which makes me cringe. Do they need to have a 24/7 stream for viewers? No, is the answer.

Dump big brother, it’s had it’s time.

Fine, watch something else for an hour – and as for complaining about the limited LF offering that runs overnight well I can’t see that’s a problem for you either. However, BB fans are upset because the premise of the show is that housemates are monitored around the clock, each Friday the public then evict the least popular of the nominees. All very Orwellian. So don’t ‘cringe’ just do something else – I recommend reading 1984 G Orwell?

So you might not like it but plenty still want to see it on a live feed via red button 24/7.

It isnt dominating the schedule on E4. It this year only on overnight. It never was on 24/7 on E4 so get you facts correct. It was 24/7 on red button which has now been axed and is the reasons for the complaints.

Yes, there will always be those who don’t enjoy it and don’t think C4 should show it – but you show absolutely no respect to those who do (or did at least) enjoy it and do think it has it’s place in the schedule.

I could never imagine the BBC treating The Apprentice so badly, or ITV accepting mediocre ratings for I’m a Celeb and Britain’s Got Talent and saying that’ll do – no need to bother trying to win former viewers back.

IMO C4 have simply made their decision – they don’t want BB, but don’t want anyone else to have it either. And therefore they’re doing everything they can to run it into the ground and kill off the remaining fan base so that when the axe finally does fall, no other channel will be interested in picking it up.

As the nation becomes gradually desensitised by this behaviour through such persistant programming, our youths are becoming increasingly vulnerable.I can clearly see how this affects children, particlarly in homes where there is a lack of self awareness in parenting skills. These are the same children that are at risk from crime, drugs, anti-social behaviour and imprisonment.
The next time that the media portrays the children of this country as knife wielding hoodies, remember who is creating hundreds of hours of voyeuristic television, engineering violence, arguements and swearing.

I would like to thank the management for placing limits on the language that presenters use. I thoroughly enjoy C4 programmes and find them both entertaining and informative. However, as a Christian I find expletives such as ‘my God’ and ‘Christ almighty’ highly offensive. The names of God are full of significance both in a theological sense and in terms of worship. The matter was raised recently with respect to ‘Location Location’. In her defense, the presenter stated that these are commonly used exclamations and have been for a long time. However, this argument is not valid at any time. To use them is to blaspheme. Even if such words have no relevance to individuals, we all live in the same society and are therefore in relationship with each other, whether we like it or not. All viewers, (and there are millions of Christians in the U.K. of all denominations who would agree with me), should be able to enjoy your programmes without being given unnecessary offence. I hope producers, presenters and management will remain sensitive to the needs of all of your viewers.

The asa in its infinite wisdom rejected the complaints and upheld the release of the advert. This is indicative of an obsession within the media and the white liberal middle class with routinely abusing and humiliating 48% of the population and is symptomatic of a truly sick society which also truly deserves what it has coming to it. In light of this situation it is now abundantly clear that for white working class males in the uk the best way to contribute towards the destabilisation of british society in its present form is to vote for and promote the BNP. Dear Sirs,

I’m writing to you about the new series of Big Brother.

I have to start off by saying that, like so many other Big Brothers, I am disappointed by the start. To let Sky News and BBC News 24 know that the people going in would be non Housemates and that they would live in only one room, and that they would live on cold porridge and water is a bit silly. If I wasn’t a big fan of this show I would’ve given it a miss. It doesn’t surprise me that I’ve since read that the ratings had dropped once again for the launch show. Please let me, as a fan, give you a tip – The only thing we want from the the launch show is brand new Housemates going into a brand new house and letting them, and us, get use to it all. There is no need for Big Brotherhood, Non Housemates, or anything else to kick start the show off.

Next I’d like to ask you why there isn’t a red button so we can watch the house 24/7? This is one of the worse crimes that you could possibly do to a Big Brother fan. Not everyone has internet access, and if you did it would probably cost us to watch it online, right? I am on JSA, and do not have internet access at home, so to me it looks like you are saying please spend your money by voting, and then slapping us in the face by not giving us a good service. How much money does it take to set up the interactive service on E4? I’d love to find that one out. Also, why only have the live streems at night on e4? Last year, and with Celebrity Big Brothers, you had about 2 hours on E4 around 2pm every day. At least we could then see what was going on in the house during the day. Now it’s only on at night around 11pm, midnight or one in the morning. You give us very little yet you expect us to stay interested.

In the last few days I have asked myself a serious question; a question that I now want to put to you. Could/would another channel do a better job in bringing Big Brother to the UK?

I have spoken to the Commissioning Editor about your comment, and she asked me to reassure you that the issue of what is and isn’t appropriate for each character is taken very seriously and it was certainly not intended that this new character would to cause offence to members of the Army. She explained that while Caleb is a soldier, this is not his only defining attribute and that as Zak’s brother, Caleb’s purpose is to demonstrate how siblings can have strikingly different values. Their competitive relationship and the trouble Caleb causes by arriving in Zak’s life are the central points in this story strand. Zak is a very popular and likable character who certainly doesn’t share Caleb’s views on violence. I hope this helps explain the decision making process behind the introduction of this character and storyline, and thanks for making the point here.

The confusion of these two separate issues is currently rife in the ongoing debate re the existence of God – witness Dawkins execrable book ‘The God Delusion’ – and renders much of what is written, broadcast and spoken as logically flawed and intellectually sterile. On the basis of this most simple of errors I find little suprise in the singular failure of the course (despite Ronsons claim to the contrary) to elicit even one conversion within the eight person group under study.

In the past few series the Countdown producers seem to be bringing in one contestant with an extremely high intellect who proceeds to wipe the floor wiith all the other players. This takes away so much of the enjoyment of watching the show and, for the viewer, an even chance of pitting oneself against the contestants. These brainy freaks do not belong on Countdown and should be on programmes such as University Challenge which pit others of equal intellect against each other. See how the get on there! Countdown was designed to be enjoyed by the afternoon viewing audience and Richard and Carol recognised this and together with the contestants made the show so popular. How many elderly and retired viewers watch these now unequal contests in bemusement?
When somebody comes onto the show and easily clears one hundred points every time the enjoyment of watching a good contest is not there and for myself I find myself turning off in despair.

After viewing the programme discussing swearing on television, it was disappointing to note that the people in favour of such language being broadcast displayed no respect or consideration for people who were offended by bad language. The old excuses of being able to switch off or switch over once again managed another airing. However, people do not pay for a TV licence to switch off and if they switch over, particularly after the watershed, they are merely treated to more of the same Channel 4-influenced obscenities. In my opinion, Channel 4 is the King of Obscenity and always has been and the most distasteful part of this is that it appears proud to hold this title. It was noted that the Channel 4 representative advised that it had been shown that people were only offended by swearing on television when it was used out of context, however, she apparently failed to explain that continual or excessive use of foul language was found to be offensive and such excessive swearing can be found on many Channel 4 programmes – such is the respect that the broadcaster appears to offer its customers and for the research undertaken.

The Channel 4 representative also emphasised that no offence was ever intended and if this is the case then the channel should become a subscription-only channel and let us see just how many people are willing to pay to hear an evening of verbal abuse being thrown into their living rooms. It is because of Channel 4’s apparent irresponsibility to do its best to try to achieve a state of broadcasting that holds no boundaries that I believe that the channel is not fit for purpose as a public-service broadcaster. It should be remembered that people who are not offended by obscenities are able to view any programme while people are so offended are severely limited despite the number of channels now available. Surely there are sufficient other options for people to hear as much swearing as they like, if this is what actually turns them on, without broadcasters having to beam such obscenities into the comfort and privacy of licence-payers’ living rooms on a nightly basis

I am in a similar position to the ‘poorer’ family, single mum working on tax credits, and i would say that it is the area they live in which is the biggest barrier to a happy and fulfilled life. Possessions mean nothing compared to safety. Myself and my children (teens) watched this first programme and we all said we would live in a tent in our area rather than the spacious flat the family had in london. The best thing anyone in a position to help can do is give the family the deposit and a van to move out to a better area. We live in North Wales where it is safe and lots of free beaches, woods, and countryside. We are poor but happy! A great programme non the less…well done!

Sorry but I dont agree, I just think there was something very, very wrong with the programme, I have never seen anything more patronising in my life, those poor little girls could in the future, work a million hours a week and will never, ever get to the standards that the family featured have. I think it s quite disgusting that these programmes can be made, let alone shown.

What a little snob that child was, showing off to the poor family with what she had, her clothes would probably cost enough to feed that family for a year!

That family will now be so disillusioned with their life after seeing what they are missing in life.

As a social worker I think the whole series should be scrapped, its diabolical.

When are we going to see some new episodes of Come Dine With Me? All the programmes showing now, have been repeated about 3 times. It is a very popular show with many of my family and friends, but is getting very boring watching constant repeats.

I recently viewed Lee Evans: Big: At the O2 Arena, and I couldn’t help noticing the fact that Channel 4 had reduced the length of the show from 155 minutes, to 65 minutes. Why? You made us miss 60% of the show. What is your explaination for all this? If you’re going to reduce the length of the shows by more than half, then don’t bother transmitting it; that’s what I say. Put programs on at full length please, not reduced drastically.

How sad that Rupert Everett was chosen, or has chosen himself, to do a program on Lord Byron. A golden opportunity to make a fascinating program was lost by his unpleasant prostering. The program seemed to be more about him than Lord Byron.

Is the grammatical error in the title of “How The Other Half Live” intentional or an oversight on the part of programme makers who really should know better?
