Following weeks of mixed feedback from viewers, The TV Show dedicated its most recent programme to a debate on Boys and Girls Alone. Perhaps not surprisingly, it was a heated debate and not everyone in the studio audience got to share their view on air – take a look at this exclusive online video to find out what else was said.
Those who watched The TV Show on 7 March will know that child psychologist Melanie Gill and author Sue Palmer appeared in the studio to voice their criticisms of Boys and Girls Alone. Both women had previously signed a letter to The Times accusing the series of “child abuse and cruelty”.
Also in the audience was Christine Pratt, CEO of the National Bullying Helpline, who came to The TV Show in support of Boys and Girls Alone. A lively on-air debate and limited air time meant that Christine’s views didn’t make the programme, but Krishnan and the crew stayed behind a short while to make sure that Christine – along with Terry Drury from the National Network for Children in Employment and Entertainment – got to have their say.
