The TV Show rounded up another month of audience feedback last weekend (Sep 6) with an opinion-packed live studio debate. Having taken on board the wide array of comments C4 received from viewers throughout August, this month’s show focused on the issue of Women on 4, and – in what marked a change from the usual format – also hosted a Q&A session about popular show The Secret Millionaire.
What did you think? Did you watch the programme on Saturday? – The TV Show is available for the next 30 days on Catch-Up take a look now and continue the debate online!
First up, Sarah Mulvey, Channel 4’s commissioning editor for documentaries, and millionaire Kavita Oberoi took to the studio couch to field questions from intrigued fans of The Secret Millionaire. Amongst other things, Sarah revealed how programme makers find their millionaires, and how they manage to keep their true identity a ‘secret’. Kavita also explained why she had taken part in the project, and what impact her involvement had had.
This month’s main debate focused on the issue of Women on 4. Taking its cue from the recent G-Spot strand of documentaries, we asked viewers whether Channel 4 gave women what they want. Krishnan got the debate going last week with this blog post and many of you commented in response… In the studio, Jo Ball – C4’s commissioning editor for features – and TV presenter Lowri Turner joined Krishnan to offer their opinions. If you have any thoughts to add to the debate, please let us know.
Aside from the two main features, the show also featured its regular rounded up the month’s big TV news (the final of Big Brother 9, Eastenders’ gang murder, the return of The X Factor, the end of Richard & Judy…). We also brought you the opinions of viewers in Glasgow who last month spoke to the ‘Big 4’ as part of The TV Show’s tour around Britain. The Big 4 will be in Birmingham on Friday September 26… See our Take Part section for more information.
After The TV Show cameras stopped rolling on Saturday, many of our 40-strong audience enjoyed a tour of the studio – and a number of them also took the opportunity to have their say by recording some backstage viewer vox pops. We’ll be posting those video clips on the site soon, so keep an eye on the blog to find out what our most passionate audience members had to say.
The next edition of The TV Show takes place on Saturday 4 October – if you’d like to join the studio audience please contact thetvshow@princesstv.com.
