please John as an American Citizen living in the UK I find it difficult that you often refer to President Obama as “Mr” rather than using his correct title. Perhaps this is a sign of the lack of deference between UK and the USA which is much more polite.
Down here at Boskenwyn School in Cornwall we don’t get much snow …
… this is response from a parent:
“Hello Mary
In response to the newsletter asking for parent feedback on their views regarding school being closed on Tuesday.
I think the school made the right decision I would not have wanted to drive down the lane in such conditions and the children had a wonderful day.
But,
more importantly it was an amazing experience for them and us to have a day out of the ‘normal’ to do something different; yes, work was disrupted but it was only a day and worth every minute of that disruption. When we lived in London and we had heavy snow one day and the children did go to school but they were kept in all day in case of playground injury, by the time they came home it had started to melt and that one opportunity to experience it was lost for another year.
It is important we all make the most and best of the unexpected.
Nikki”
However, for the rest of this year, we have offered to open the school, whatever the weather, and for parents to bring their children on foot, over the fields – although the school would probably staffed by teaching assistants who live nearby and could also walk, rather than teachers, who mostly live further away.

Maybe get Jon’s name right before you say things like that. We dont refer to the US president in that manner here.
Jon:
I am not sure, why you and other commentators called President Obama as a ‘Mr’…His correct Title is President..
