Let's console ourselves: far from being 'to blame' for climate-catastrophe, we are just the latest inheritors of it. If the Industrial Revolution started in the 1750s, that's how-many generations of pols/hacks/consumers who couldn't give-a-stuff. Yes, it will be a nightmare for our kids/grandkids, but it's not entirely our rap. At least we noticed Rome was already burning. International consensus is slow – climate Armageddon isn’t. Just look at the current and future economic forecasts....while the US shows negative GDP, China and India are still rocketing ahead, depression or not. Now, when you consider enviornmental standards in China make the old Warsaw Pact seem clean by comparison, you can see why the G8 meet was a waste of time. Say the USA sets an emissions target but does not achieve them. So what? What is anybody going to do about it? Send the US a bill perhaps or just glare. There are no consequences.
