I little thought I’d ever make it into Heat magazine.
But a vast double spread photograph this week finds me one side of the photo and the Strictly Come Dancing and S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens the other.
I was doing nothing more exciting than posting a form to the tax man, when I became aware of a gaggle of paparazzi on motor bikes and on foot in the middle of London’s Primrose Hill village.
There’s a good Greek restaurant on the corner opposite the post box and it is said that Kate Moss eats there – a relief to know that she eats at all.
Paps have been seen before, staking her out, or even ‘out-steaking her’.
I assumed this was their mission again, and maybe it was. Suddenly the shutters began crackling, and I realised I was in the frame.
I told them I was only a hack and of no interest. Ms Stevens, who I had not met, passed and said sweetly, “hello Jon”, and I thought no more about it. So this is what sells Heat?

Never read the mag, but might have to now! Come to think of it, I’m due to go to the hairdresser’s soon – I’m sure they’ve got a copy…

I can imagine the picture editor’s reaction when the pap phoned and said ‘I’ve got a great scoop – Jon Snow posting a letter to the tax man.’

For some reason your description reminded me of a 1930’s Al Capone-style drive-by shooting. First drag, now in Heat magazine. I’m worried: what next?
