A few more changes to the new site
A quick post just to detail a few changes to the new site recently.
We’ve added tons more support for uploading and displaying galleries of images on our programmes pages, meaning the picture editors are no longer limited to displaying images on an episode basis – they can now upload images in whatever organisation they choose, meaning more glitzy galleries to snoop around are on the way. The interaction around moving from picture to picture in a gallery has also been gently improved.
You’ll also find a list of the most recent features to the News / Articles area of each programme, and in a week or so you’ll see more links to browse features by category, such as Profiles. Also look out in a couple of weeks for listings of episodes’ music tracks and details of each episode’s broadcast times. From the end of the month you’ll also be able to comment on a variety of pages in the programmes area.
The new homepage, which has received lots of attention and praise for its design over the past month, now has a simpler interaction model for the strip in the centre of the page. Instead of requiring the user to click on one of the headings to open up that ’slice’ of the strip, we’ve enabled it on ‘roll over’ instead. The results of user testing led us to believe that too many of our visitors were missing the Catch Up promotions in the left slice of the strip; hopefully more people will find exploring this area easier now.
Of course, an all-new Catch Up experience is set to arrive in a couple weeks as well, as noted in a previous post.
We hope you like the changes. Any feedback on the new site is welcome and we’ll try to respond here and on our support sites to each bit of feedback.

I’m impressed with the progress you guys are making on revamping the site, and looking forward to the new catch-up service launching soon
Also, I noticed while browsing this blog in the latest stable version of Chrome (1.0.154.53) that the header is very messed up (it looks fine in Firefox 3.0.7). Also, why does http://blogs.channel4.com/ take me to the FourDocs blog? I had assumed it would show me a list of all the blogs on Channel 4 (you mentioned the Jon Snow one in an earlier post, this one, the Four Docs one, maybe there are more…) and maybe the most recent posts from each.

@AndrewM thanks for letting us know about the Chrome inconsistency. We’ll check it out. re: the blogs.channel4.com redirect – that’s an odd one and needs to be sorted! Thanks for the heads up.
