Feedback about the new home page UX
Whilst the overwhelming response to the new Channel 4 home page has been positive (bold design, clearer navigation, etc), one or two of you have pointed out that the experience of the new home page has been left wanting on some browsers or devices. It appears that on the latest Firefox browser, for instance, users are not being given the notice to ‘Install the latest version of Flash 10′, as they are when using the Internet Explorer browsers. We’ve noted this inconsistency and will be implementing a patch to correct it very soon. We’ll also try to increase the size of this message to make it more noticeable.
Some iPhone users have complained that (since the iPhone does not support any Flash currently), their experience of the new Channel4 home page is poor. To address the issue we’ll be attempting a further patch that serves the HTML only version or at least a prominent link to it for iPhone users. In the meantime, iPhone users can opt to disable Javascript when browsing the Channel 4 home page to get a more satisfying display of the content.
Finally it’s also been raised that there’s a degree of ‘jumping’ of the content when the home page loads up. We’re investigating the causes and hope to report back soon on any possible solutions.
Please do let us know about other issues you may be having with the new experience of the site here and we will try hard to resolve them quickly.
