A night of snow and moon halos: your weather pictures

Even though all parts of the UK have been cold for around a week, many southern areas had yet to experience any snowfall.

Last night that changed, with an area of snow spreading across southern and eastern parts of England, giving a covering of a few centimetres in places.

While journeys to work on the roads were slower than normal, there hasn’t been any significant disruption.

A covering of snow always encourages people to reach for their cameras, so I thought I’d pull together some of your pictures from Twitter.

There was also a great example of a moon halo last night, caused by ice crystals in cirrus clouds reflecting and refracting the moonlight.
