Why the Lords didn’t carry on with yesterday

Nick Clegg in the Commons just accused Labour peers of “the lowest form of political foot-dragging”.

You may be wondering why the Lords didn’t plough on all the way through today’s schedule of work -introductions and questions. They could have done that.

“Today” would have remained “yesterday” and “tomorrow” would never happen. But if it’s not a new parliamentary day peers can’t claim their daily attendance allowance and I hear that weighed heavily in their Lordships’ thinking.
