Boris Johnson booed as he leaves London home

Boris Johnson, the man who could be our next Prime Minister, was booed and greeted with shouts of “scum” and “t***” and more besides as he came out of his home in North London a moment ago.

That’s not unusual if organised protestors have got together but some of these people were well-to-do Londoners on their way to work. It underlines the division laid bare by the results last night.

The opening moments of “an independent Britain” as viewed on 24 hour news have been dominated by Nigel Farage praising the “decent” people who voted on his side last night surrounded by white men.

The imagery, the first visions of the new dispensation, is presumably not the one the Tories who led Vote Leave would like. To add to what some will find unnerving the Republican US Presidential nominee is wandering around Scotland serenaded by bagpipes.

Senior Leave Tories may be feeling that they have an urgent need to put their own shape on events. We are told to expect some words from them at 11am.
