Few foodie stories have saddened us more this summer than the struggle of the British bee. But while we’ve all felt a pang of remorse as environmentalists detail dwindling swarms, most of us are stumped as to how we can make a difference.
Not so at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in Hyde Park, London who are installing hives on the roof of their building. The hotel hopes to house around half a million bees who’ll pay their way by producing up to 40kg of honey a year for the hungry diners in the breakfast bar below.
