John Wright, River Cottage Foraging Expert, talks about his experiences on the new River Cottage Autumn show…
Two things people often ask me about the River Cottage programmes are ‘Is it fun?’ and ‘Is it real?’. I always assure them that it is certainly real and most definitely fun. Two of the major sequences I am in for this series were a little more real and perhaps a little less fun than usual. read more

There’s a bit of me which feels that, as a female beer writer and passionate ale fan, two men in a bath full of bubbling brews should definitely fuel a few naughty thoughts. read more

Steven Lamb, River Cottage host and resident smallholder, talks about his experiences on the new River Cottage Autumn show…
One of the many interesting things about living in the place that you work is that you get to experience some surreal moments. If your home and place of work happens to also be a backdrop for a popular television programme then those surreal moments occur all the time. read more

This morning I’m having breakfast with Gordon Ramsay.

Now in my head, we’ll be breakfasting alone, all champagne and smoked salmon, while I dazzle him with my no nonsense gastronomic banter and insightful enthusiasm into his latest Cookalong project. In reality, however, he’s invited nine other journalists to his Camden restaurant where he’s going to try and teach them how to scramble eggs. read more

Tim Maddams, head chef at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s Canteen restaurant, talks about his experiences on the new River Cottage Autumn show…

Well, filming for the autumn show is in full swing, and fitting in the filming and preparation around my already very hectic schedule is demanding – but I find being involved right the way through from ideas to shows very rewarding. It appeals to my creative side! This series has had its fair share of challenges so far and we aren’t finished yet. read more

My final week of cooking has me conclude (for now) my culinary journey with quick tikka salmon with cucumber yoghurt. What a 3 week journey it has been – traversing the cookery globe: plunging the depths of the North Sea in week one, followed by a visit to Tuscan Italy and now culminating with a stop-off in the sub continent of….East London! Never in a million years would I previously have considered getting stuck into Indian cuisine, but with the J-dogg as my leader I’m primed to tackle it. read more

Cooking experience: Once tried to cook when wife was on holiday – the fire brigade was called in

This week I opted for the quick salmon tikka with cucumber yoghurt. The title made it sound a bit adventurous for us. Salmon with a curry theme sounded unusual compared to the other recipes we’d tried and to be honest I was a bit wary. read more

For my final foray into Jamie’s campaign I cooked quick tikka salmon with cucumber yoghurt, all served on warm naan bread. I’ve never cooked anything like this before and I must admit I wasn’t looking forward to it, mainly because I wasn’t a big fan of curry or salmon. I say wasn’t because now I am. read more

For my second attempt at ‘Pass it on’ I opted for the mini pasta shells with creamy smoked bacon and pea sauce. It sounded delicious but turned out to be trickier than I’d thought it was going to be, mostly because of my experimenting. read more
