Unique Property: Disused Water Tower

Every now and then I hear about a unique property so interesting that my imagination instantly starts running away with me. This disused water tower in Warwickshire is no exception. With a guide price of £25,000 and wonderful views over rolling farmland, if ever a property were ripe for the Grand Designs treatment then this is it.

Set in the village of Burton Green, a stone’s throw from Coventry and within commuting distance of Birmingham, the empty tower is the epitome of a developer’s blank canvas. Inside is one huge, circular room and a spiral staircase, on a site that measures over 15,000 square feet. It’s a renowned local landmark and can be seen for miles around. The property will be sold as freehold.

If you fancy bidding on this one-of-a-kind property, contact mat.harris@kingsturge.com or jason.birch@kingsturge.com. All planning enquiries need to go to Warwick District Council. If you’d like to see some inspirational water tower conversions, check out the Amersham and Ashford projects from Grand Designs.

I do love water towers and they can make fantastically unique homes!

That one has a nice architectural look to it and it’s a pretty good price too (more reasonable than this one, and minus the grafitti -http://www.primelocationblog.com/uk/somebodys-dream-home-a-100000-water-tower)

The local planning office have informed me there is No Chance of getting planning permission as it is in the greenbelt area,so basically it’s not worth buying for £2.5K never mind £25K…….

    Hi Stu,
I am not entirely convinced about what what the planners have said. PPG2 generally encourages the re-use of buildings in Green Belt and up here in North Yorkshire officers have recently recommended approval for re-use of a similar Water Tower in Harrogate’s Green Belt.

This would make a really individual home.

It just needs someone with a bit of imagination to build something special!
