I thought Property Ladder made for fascinating viewing last night – especially as I bought my house in April 2007 at the height of the market. Luckily for me, unlike last night’s developers, I’m not thinking of selling any time soon, so I could watch the rollercoaster ride they were on with sympathy, but a certain detachment. Can’t wait for the rest of the series now, and I think this series, more than any other, deserves future revisits – in a year or so – to see just how these ambitious, would-be developers managed over time to realise their dreams, if at all.
If you’re looking for clarification of Sarah’s remarks about the housing market, we have our own expert take on the property market. It’s realistic, it’s not all pretty, but it’s by our expert Kate Faulkner, who knows exactly what she’s talking about. Don’t miss it. And let us know what you thought of last night’s show, too.

Saw an advert for this last night. Now I know what’s involved I will try to watch. We built a house (to sell) and put it on the market around Easter 08, the market went phut so we moved in last November. We were lucky though! Looking forward to the show next week.
How do I get, my place done?
Mary

We opted to improve rather than move last year with the help of betternest.co.uk
Our property had dropped in value and we were desparate for more space but couldnt afford to sell! Betternest were great, provided realistic build cost assesments and market appraisals and a project that gave us the space we needed without planning permission.. was watching the show the other night thinking how lucky we have been. Willl definitely be tuning in again next week!
We recently decided to improve our home rather than move. For us the biggest concern was getting planning permission as on the show this often seems to be an issue. We looked online and found a really useful website doineedplanningpermission.co.uk that gave us lot of helpful information. They also had links to various contractors that we then contacted about designing and building our extension.
