Having spent the last hour watching tonight’s episode of Kirstie’s Homemade Home, I think it’s fair to say that Kirstie’s efforts at interior design this week are more palatable than in the bathrooms episode we saw last Thursday. For me at least, the bathroom suite Kirstie chose was beautiful, but aside from that the style of her bathrooms wasn’t something I would go for. Of course this is purely subjective, and the majority of feedback we’ve had from you viewers has been very positive indeed.

Tonight, however, Kirstie gives the living room and playroom a good going over, and the results are much more in line with my own tastes. On the walls are a combination of early 20th century advertising posters and more contemporary artwork.
The furniture, and I hope Kirstie won’t mind me saying this, is a bit a bit shabby but looks invitingly comfortable. Her choice of salvaged log fire is tasteful and well suited to the property, while the poker that she makes, with help from the local blacksmith, is reassuringly imperfect. The twee amongst us (myself included) will no doubt find these imperfections to be characterful and individual, which is of course what the show is all about.
As well as the aforementioned blacksmithing, Kirstie has a go at knitting some very cute draught excluders for the playroom, and learns how to make lampshades. Incidentally, this looks surprisingly simple. In my favourite sequence from the show, she goes bargain hunting at a salvage yard and haggles like a woman possessed.
Watch Kirstie’s Homemade Home, tonight at 8 on Channel 4 or any time you like with Channel 4 Catch Up.

Loved the Van Dykes, and yes the poker could have been straighter!
Please get this patronising twerp off our screens.
Love the programme, but would like longer spent showing the various crafts. I go to upholstery classes (which I love) and would have wished to see more of Kirsty’s chair refurbishment and also the other chairs in the house.
i really would like to know where i can get hold of the print that is hanging above the fireplace in the living room. Does anyone know?
Sorry Michelle, I’m afraid I don’t have the supplier info for that print. However it appears to be a GWR poster from what I can tell – if you put ‘Cornish Riviera poster’ in to Google then lots of results pop up for similar prints, but I can’t find an exact match for the one at Meadow Gate
